About Douglas Taylor
Douglas Taylor was born in 1959 in Garden City, Michigan. After
graduating from high school there, he moved to Cape Ann in Massachusetts to pursue
his studies as an artist. From 1978 to 1981 he attended the Gloucester Academy of
Fine Art under the tutelage of renowned impressionist John C. Terelak. While there,
he also took instruction in watercolor with David Bareford and in life study with
Richard Gibney. Upon completion of his studies, he was honored as Best New Artist
Member by the Rockport Art Association and also received an award for his art from
the prestigious Salmagundi Club of New York.

Nature in its many forms and seasons inspires Taylor's
art. Whether he is basking into the changing moods of Boston's Public Garden with
its urban skyline or delving into the wintry hues of an icebound river in rural Maine,
Taylor's paintings offer the viewer an avenue that proceeds beyond their colored
surfaces into the deeper realities that are his vision of beauty.
